"Since childhood in Moscow, I have had a passion for creating art. As a little girl, I drew on everything: walls, furniture, cars, clothing... nothing was sacred, sometimes much to my grandmother's dismay. I love seeing the world through a lens, or from a brush filled with paint, and I was most fond of watercolors, until the day my fingers met the touch of a pastel for the first time. To me, there's nothing like the sensual synergy of chalk and paper and skin.
Today I live in Dallas, Texas. Being professionally engaged in the hot shot delivery business, I traveled extensively by van across the USA and Canada, visiting the most remote places in some of the most diverse weather. I drank in the scenery along the way, from the wonderful pastoral landscapes of the California Spring to the rugged relief of Montana in early Winter, to the cold white nights of Yellowknife, and the multicolor dance of the aurora borealis in Alberta, to the sinister approach of a haboob in El Paso.
Traveling solo makes it possible not only to independently solve technical problems, of which there are many on the road, but also to admire nature, see it's changes, succumb to it's moods and indulge in those reflections. Both joyful and disturbing, these bittersweet emotions are recorded and reflected in my work, a box of pastels and watercolors always by my side. I'm an observer of everyday life and the infinity of colors it presents. I find fascination in moments of our time here... the people, premises, objects and energies that surround us. To me, life is in the details, and I pay careful attention to them in my artwork.
We are often nostalgic about the past, and I love to capture a tiny sliver of time as if it were a photograph or a written word. But living in the past dims the brightness of future plans and keeps the soul under it's thumb, so we can't dwell there too long. Spend a moment with me on my canvas, maybe a few perhaps. And always remember that we don't know what awaits us tomorrow, but today we must enjoy that moment to it's fullest. I hope my art whispers that softly to you forever...
